Dongdaemun Design Plaza : Exhibition halls and shopping malls in Seoul

Exhibition halls and shopping malls in Jung-gu, Seoul. It was designed by British architect Zaha Hadid. It is the world's largest three-dimensional unstructured structure, according to its website. After Dongdaemun Stadium was demolished in 2007, it was established as a member of the development policy for Dongdaemun Stadium. Construction began in 2008 and opened in March 2014, six years later. Currently, the operator is the Seoul Design Foundation, a Seoul-funded organization, and is in charge of managing the project along with Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, which first opened in 2009.

After Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon removed Dongdaemun Stadium in 2007 under a design Seoul plan he suggested while in office, a draft plan was set up in 2008 to set up a tourist site harmonized with historical culture and design on the site of Dongdaemun Stadium. As a result, Dongdaemun History &'26; Culture Park was established in 2009, and the DDP design and policy continued during Oh Se-hoon's term as mayor.

However, concerns were also raised when Mayor Oh Se-hoon resigned in 2011 to take responsibility for the failure of the city’s free school lunch referendum and Mayor Park Won-soon took office as successor, although the DDP went through ups and downs during Park’s tenure as mayor of Seoul, which advocated the actual "people-centered welfare Seoul," as many of the projects were scrapped.

It operates as an exhibition hall that combines shopping facilities. The building area consists largely of Alerts (A), Learning Site (M), Salim Site (D), Eulim Plaza (including Design Market) and Dongdaemun History and Culture Park.
Reminder: It can be written as a showroom or a gallery. The total display area of the notification area is 4,953 square meters, including the 1st Announcement Hall, 2nd Announcement Hall, and the International Conference Hall, which is an annex.
Learning Site: A good place to write toward the museum's special exhibition. For your information, Maintenant is the Gansong Museum of Art.
Salimator: It's a shopping place, but it's not designed primarily for the best-selling items (...), but it's a place where design companies experience design by displaying the items.
Ullim Square is a central plaza, and you can see it from Dongdaemun History & Culture Park
Design Market: A place to shop. There are clothes and design items, but the size is small. But the restaurant is over here.
Dongdaemun History & Culture Park

Each facility will play a number of roles to fit into the design in its own way, and will be united under the DDP's slogan of "Source of Design/Creative Industry."

Commercial spaces are concentrated underground. The size is not that big compared to the huge commercial districts of the neighboring Dongdaemun Market.

It is one of the buildings symbolizing Dongdaemun in line with the huge commercial districts around it, providing a resting place for citizens. Since it is world-famous for its architectural design, there are quite a few tourists who came to take pictures of buildings.

Seoul Bamdokkebiya Market @DDP Youth Runway Market is held here from April to October every year.
