Bukaksan : The mountain in Seoul

The mountain stretches from Buam-dong, Pyeongchang-dong, Samcheong-dong, and Hyehwa-dong, Seongbuk-gu to Donam-dong, Jeongneung-dong and Seongbuk-dong. It is 342 meters above sea level.

It is also oddly connected to nearby Arirang Pass or Miarigo Pass and has Bukak Skyway along the mountain ridge. And the least-recognized of all the gates of the Seoul City Wall is the mountain's.

The mountains, though, are already developed to the middle of the hill, covered with asphalt, and have a lot of apartments. To be precise, the area from Arirang Pass to Seongbuk-gu Community Center and Samseon-dong area are the same. Thanks to this, walking and exercise facilities are well established, so people around them often use them when exercising. However, the trail was cut off in the middle The walkway is cut off, and you are often embarrassed to see a road far away. In addition, there are golf courses and other facilities.

The most representative tour course is the Seoul Fortress Trail, which starts at the window and ends at the Sukjeongmun Gate. There are also three information centers to visit here, called Changmun, Malbawi and Sukjeongmun Information Center, respectively. Malbawi (reference: Malbawi originated from the horse-riding on a rock when people took a short rest while riding on a horse because the mountain around it was good in the past.) Go to the Information Center (the standard for climbing from Samcheong-dong) and the Creative Gate Information Center (follow the fortress above the gate) directly to the top of Bukaksan Mountain.

When it comes to Bukaksan Mountain, most people think only of the Seoul Fortress Trail mentioned above, but there is also the Bukak Haneul-gil (a mountain path from the gate to the Bukak Palgakjeong Pavilion). Seongbukcheon originator and Kim Shin-jo root are also two of them, and if you want to take a solitary walk in nature, this is better, and there are several scenic observatory.

Since the reopening of Bukaksan Mountain in 2007, the government had to go through identification procedures when it went to the top for a while, but the identification process has been omitted since April 5, 2019, when it has been changed to open at all times. So now, if you take out military facilities, you can go around as much as a normal mountain.

Transportation

Because it is difficult to access by public transportation, there are few visitors for a mountain in the center of Seoul. In particular, the Da Won School bus stop, which is closest to the Sukjeongmun Information Center, is about 15 to 20 minutes away on foot.

In the past, a village bus number 10 existed and operated Bukak Palgakjeong Pavilion - Gwanghwamun Gate, but it was abolished in November 2003 due to a lack of passengers. Thus, it has become difficult for those without cars to go to Bukak Palgakjeong Pavilion since then.
